Ottmar Hitzfeld est né le 12 janvier 1949 à Lörrach. Il est un entraîneur et ex-joueur de football allemand. Depuis le 1er juillet 2008, il est l'entraîneur de l'équipe nationale suisse. Il a longtemps été l'entraîneur du Bayern Munich, d'abord entre 1998 et 2004, puis en 2007-2008. Il fait partie des cinq seuls entraîneurs, avec l'Autrichien Ernst Happel, le Portugais José Mourinho, l'Allemand Jupp Heynckes et l'Italien Carlo Ancelotti à avoir remporté deux fois la Ligue des champions à la tête de deux clubs différents : le Borussia Dortmund en 1997 et le Bayern Munich en 2001.
