Joe Sample est un pianiste, claviériste et compositeur de jazz américain né le 1er février 1939 à Houston, au Texas et mort dans cette même ville le 12 septembre 2014. Il a été l'un des membres fondateurs des Crusaders. Il joue du piano depuis ses 5 ans. Depuis la fin des années 1980, Sample mène avec succès sa carrière solo et a joué sur les albums de nombreux artistes et groupes tels que Miles Davis, George Benson, Jimmy Witherspoon, B.B.
