Irving Berlin, de son vrai nom Israel Isidore Baline ou Beilin, est un compositeur américain d'origine juive russe, né le 11 mai 1888 dans l'Empire russe, soit à Moguilev en Biélorussie aujourd'hui, soit à Tioumen en actuelle Russie, et décédé le 22 septembre 1989 à New York (États-Unis) à l'âge de 101 ans. Il doit sa renommée aux nombreuses comédies musicales dont il a signé la musique. Sa chanson la plus connue est probablement Cheek to Cheek, créée pour Fred Astaire dans le film Le Danseur du dessus, emblématique de ce genre musical.
