John Ellenby (né le 9 janvier 1941 et mort le 17 août 2016) était un ingénieur informatique et homme d'affaire britannique. Il est considéré comme l'un des pères du PC portable apparus dans les années 80. John Ellenby fut le fondateur de la société "Grid Systems Corporation", fabricant de la "GRiD Compass", le premier ordinateur portable un succès commercial. Il a également co-fondé GeoVector, une société de réalité augmentée. Ellenby est né à Corbridge, dans le nord de l'Angleterre, juste à l'extérieur de Newcastle.
