Bruno Peyron est l'aîné d'une famille de trois frères dont un autre, Loïck est aussi un compétiteur connu en voile. Stéphane, le benjamin, s'est fait connaître par la planche à voile, puis par des émissions sur la télévision française.

Il commence très jeune son engagement dans la course au large, Il a participé quatre fois à la Solitaire du Figaro et trois fois à la Route du Rhum.
