Tim Howard est un footballeur américain né le 6 mars 1979 à North Brunswick Township dans le New Jersey. Premier Américain à jouer pour Manchester United, Howard est atteint du syndrome Gilles de la Tourette depuis son enfance.

Howard a commencé sa carrière de footballeur juste après le lycée en jouant aux North Jersey Imperials. Il est alors repéré par les MetroStars de New York à 19 ans et rejoint ainsi la MLS, d'abord en tant que doublure de Tony Meola puis en tant que titulaire à partir de 2001.
