Auteur-compositeur-interprète de folk anglais, Nicholas Rodney Drake, est né à Rangoon, en Birmanie (Myanmar), le 19 juin 1948. Il est mort le 25 novembre 1974 à Tanworth-in-Arden, au sud de Birmingham, en Angleterre. Bien qu'étant salué par la critique, il n'a jamais obtenu l'attention du public de son vivant. Cependant Drake (biographie)" target="_self">Nick Drake est l'objet d'une reconnaissance posthume, ses trois albums, loin d'être tombés dans l'oubli, suscitent un intérêt croissant auprès des nouvelles générations. Entouré de son père, Rodney Drake (1908-1988), ingénieur dans une compagnie anglaise, de sa mère, Molly Françoise Hardy...
