Le 14 novembre 2006, à l'âge de 35 ans, l'ancien joueur du FC Barcelone, met un terme à sa carrière après avoir remporté notamment six fois le championnat d'Espagne, une Ligue des champions et une médaille d'or aux Jeux olympiques de 1992 avec la sélection espagnole.
