Biographie de : 

John Holt est un chanteur de reggae jamaïcain né le 11 juillet 1947 à Kingston et décédé le 19 octobre 2014 à Londres. Il fut membre du groupe de rocksteady The Paragons à partir de 1964 au côté du chanteur Bob Andy, devenant leader au départ de ce dernier en 1965. Deux des titres les plus connus sont The Tide Is High, écrite par John Holt et reprise plus tard par le groupe de pop américain Blondie puis le girl band anglais Atomic Kitten et Wear you to the ball, reprise en version toastée par le deejay U Roy.
