John Davison ROCKEFELLER
John Davison Rockefeller (8 juillet 1839 – 23 mai 1937) est un industriel américain, fondateur de la famille Rockefeller, qui a fait fortune dans l'industrie du pétrole. Il est le frère de William Rockefeller. Il est considéré comme l'homme le plus riche de l'ère moderne.
Il a en particulier créé la Standard Oil qui deviendra Esso puis Exxon Mobil.
Il a épousé Laura Celestia Spelman (1839-1915) et a eu cinq enfants :

* Alice (1869-1870),
* Alta (1871-1962),
* Edith (31 août 1872 - 25 août 1932)
* John Davison Rockefeller Junior (29 janvier 1874 - 11 mai 1960) .
Son père était un marchand de "médicaments-miracles" et parcourait le pays. Baptiste fondamentaliste, sa mère lui apprit très jeune que le devoir de tout chrétien était de faire des dons à l'Église.
