Jean Alesi, né Giovanni Alesi le 11 juin 1964 à Avignon, de parents siciliens, est un pilote de course français.

Passionné au début de sa carrière par le rallye plus que par la course en circuit (il est même moniteur de pilotage sur glace), il accéda à la monoplace par la promotion en Renault 5. Il conquit le titre de champion de France de Formule 3 en 1987 et deux années plus tard celui de Formule 3000avec l'écurie Jordan, battant sur le fil son rival Érik Comas.

C'est également en 1989 qu'il débuta en grand prix au circuit Paul Ricard pour la manche française en remplacement du pilote ...
