Formé à Saverdun (Ariège), il a joué au Stade toulousain de 1997 à 2009, après deux saisons à l'US Dax.

Il a été capitaine de l'équipe de France et du Stade toulousain. Avec le record de sélections en équipe de France (118 capes) et celui du nombre de capitanats (42 brassards), il détient le palmarès le plus fourni du rugby français.
