Dimitri Chostakovitch (Dmitri Shostakovitch dans la transcription anglo-saxonne) est un compisteur russe né le 25 septembre 1906 (12 septembre julien) à Saint-Pétersbourg et mort le 9 août 1975 à Moscou. Après avoir étudié le piano avec sa mère, elle-même musicienne professionnelle, Dmitri Chostakovitch entre en 1919 au Conservatoire de Petrograd, où il étudie le piano avec Leonid Nikolaiev et la composition avec Maximilien Steinberg.
