David Herbert Lawrence, plus connu comme D. H. Lawrence, (11 septembre 1885 à Eastwood au Royaume-Uni - 2 mars 1930 à Vence en France) est un écrivain britannique. Auteur de nouvelles, romans, poèmes, pièces de théâtre, essais, livres de voyage, traductions et lettres, il est célèbre pour son sulfureux roman L’Amant de lady Chatterley. Fils de Arthur John Lawrence, un mineur, et de Lydia Beardsall, David Herbert Richards Lawrence voit le jour à Eastwood, dans le Nottinghamshire, le 11 septembre 1885. Après l'école primaire, il poursuit sa scolarité à la Nottingham High School de 1898 à 1901...
