Dany Brillant est né à Tunis le vingt-huit décembre 1965. Ayant pour idoles Elvis Presley et Franck Sinatra, il apprend à jouer de la guitare à l'âge de quatorze ans en reproduisant les accords des succès de l'époque. A vingt ans, il quitte l'université pour se produire dans des cabarets à Saint-Germain. En 1991, il sort son premier album, C'est ça qui est bon. Le simple qui en est extrait, Suzette, aux intonations jazz, devient un immense succès.
