Youssou N'Dour, né le 1er octobre 1959 à Dakar (Sénégal) est un auteur-compositeur, interprète et musicien sénégalais. Youssou Ndour, aîné de sa famille, a grandi dans le quartier de la médina de Dakar, auprès de son père Elimane Ndour et de sa mère Sokhna Mboup.

De confession musulmane, Youssou Ndour est polygame, marié à deux épouses ( Mami Camara et Aïda Coulibaly) et père de plusieurs enfants.

Il n'a jamais renié ses origines, habite toujours sa ville natale.

Il a travaillé avec des artistes de renommée internationale comme Peter Gabriel, Paul Frederic Simon, Manu Dibango.
