Viktor Ianoukovytch est Premier ministre de l'Ukraine du 21 novembre 2002 au 7 décembre 2004, puis du 28 décembre 2004 au 5 janvier 2005. Candidat du Parti des régions à l'élection présidentielle de 2004, il perd face à Viktor Iouchtchenko, meneur de la révolution orange.
