Sócrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliveira, plus connu simplement comme Sócrates , et surnommé le Docteur, est un milieu de terrain brésilien né le 19 février 1954 à Belém et mort le 4 décembre 2011 à São Paulo. Titulaire d'un doctorat en médecine, il a exercé comme spécialiste en médecine sportive à la fin de sa carrière de footballeur. Sócrates est le frère aîné de Raí, lui aussi ancien capitaine de la Seleção. Sócrates reste un des plus grands joueurs de l'histoire du football brésilien.
