Sir Ridley Scott, né le 30 novembre 1937 à South Shields, près de Durham, Angleterre, est un réalisateur et producteur britannique. Il est le frère aîné du réalisateur Tony Scott (1944-2012) avec qui il a fondé la société de production Scott Free Productions en 1995.

Passionné de dessin, il étudie entre 1954 et 1958 au West Hartlepool College of Arts où il est diplômé en design. Puis il entre au Royal College of Art à Londres.
