Rafael Chirbes, né le 27 juin 1949 à Tavernes de la Valldigna et mort le 15 août 2015, est un écrivain et critique littéraire espagnol. Rafael Chirbes naît en 1949 à Tavernes de la Valldigna (Valence). Quand son père meurt alors qu'il n'a que 4 ans, sa mère le place dans un orphelinat ne pouvant s'occuper de lui. Il en change plusieurs fois, et c'est dans ces établissements qu'il commence à écrire. En 1969, Chirbes quitte l'Espagne franquiste pour Paris, dont la mouvance et la liberté intellectuelle l'attirent. Il y reste un an. Après être rentré au pays et avoir entrepris des étud...
