Jean-Christophe Rufin, né à Bourges dans le Cher le 28 juin 1952, est un médecin, écrivain et diplomate français. Il est membre de l'Académie française depuis 2008.

Ancien président d'Action contre la faim, il est actuellement ambassadeur de France au Sénégal et en Gambie.

Après le départ de son père, vétérinaire, sa mère, qui travaille à Paris comme publicitaire, ne peut l'éduquer seule ; il est alors élevé par ses grands-parents. Son grand-père, médecin, qui avait soigné des combattants lors de la Première Guerre mondiale, fut, pendant la Seconde, déporté deux ans à Buchenwald pour fai...
