Alexis Carrel, (né Marie Joseph Auguste Carrel-Billiard) le 28 juin 1873 à Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon (Rhône-Alpes) et mort le 5 novembre 1944 à Paris, est un chirurgien et biologiste français. Pionnier de la chirurgie vasculaire, lauréat du prix Nobel de physiologie ou médecine en 1912, il est renommé pour son expérience du cœur de poulet battant in vitro pendant un temps très supérieur à la vie d'un poulet. S'étant fait mondialement connaître par la publication de L'Homme, cet inconnu en 1935, il plaida notamment pour l'eugénisme ainsi que pour une politique nataliste. Ancien élève du lycée S...
