Georges Arnaud est le nom de plume de l'écrivain, journaliste d'investigation et militant politique Henri Girard (1917-1987). Georges est le prénom de son père, Arnaud le nom de jeune fille de sa mère. Né le 16 juillet 1917 à Montpellier (Hérault), Henri Girard est un enfant indiscipliné. Il a neuf ans lorsque sa mère décède en 1926, emportée par la tuberculose, maladie dont Henri souffrira lui-même au cours de sa vie.
