(Sir) James Paul McCartney, dit "Paul McCartney" et surnommé "Macca", (né le 18 juin 1942 à l'hôpital Walton de Liverpool, en Angleterre) est un auteur-compositeur, multi-instrumentiste et chanteur britannique. Il a été le bassiste du célèbre groupe anglais pop rock The Beatles.

Son père, Jim, jouait dans un orchestre de jazz et était représentant en coton. Il fut aussi pompier de nuit.

Sa mère, Mary, ancienne infirmière, mourut en 1956 d'un cancer du sein.
