Biographie de : 

John Bauer, né en 1882 et décédé en 1918 est un illustrateur suédois connu pour Bland Tomtar och Troll (Parmi des Elfes et des Trolls), un livre pour enfants édité en Suède. Il est mort à 35 ans avec son épouse et son fils, tous trois noyés dans le lac Vättern lors d'un voyage en ferry vers Jönköping, la ville natale de John Bauer. Son influence peut être perçue dans l'œuvre des illustrateurs Arthur Rackham, Kay Nielsen et Brian Froud....
