G. K. Chesterton, de son nom complet Gilbert Keith Chesterton KC*SG (Londres, 29 mai 1874 - Beaconsfield, 14 juin 1936) est l'un des plus importants écrivains anglais du début du XXe siècle. Son œuvre est extrêmement variée : il a été journaliste, poète, biographe, apologiste du christianisme. En tant qu'auteur de romans policiers, il est surtout connu pour la série de nouvelles dont le personnage principal est le père Brown (La Clairvoyance du père Brown, La Sagesse du père Brown, L'Incrédulité du père Brown...).
