Stanley Kubrick est né dans le Bronx, à New York, le 26 juillet 1928. Dès l'âge de 13 ans, il se passionne pour le jazz, les échecs, et la photographie, par l’intermédiaire d’un cadeau de son père physicien : son premier appareil photo . A l'âge de 17 ans, alors lycéen, il vend des photos à des magazines américains, Look en particulier. Une fois sorti du lycée, ne pouvant pas aller à l'Université, il se fait embaucher par ce magazine comme photographe. Ce travail, qu'il garde jusqu'à l'âge de 21 ans, lui permit de voyager à travers les Etats-Unis, et de s'initier aux principes fondamentaux de ...
