Pablo Neruda, nom de plume de Ricardo Eliecer Neftalí Reyes Basoalto, est un poète, écrivain, diplomate, homme politique et penseur chilien, né le 12 juillet 1904 à Parral (province de Linares, Chili), mort le 23 septembre 1973 à Santiago du Chili. Sa mère, doña Rosa Basoalto, institutrice, meurt deux mois après sa naissance. Son père, don José del Carmen Reyes Morales, se remariera en 1906.
